Big Ado about Poo Poo
Allow me to summarize.
AIG made some risky decisions.
They gambled and lost.
Government gave them a few hundred billion dollars (which gov doesn't actually have, so must borrow from your grandchildren)
AIG (the ones who wrote the contracts that define the conditions under which bonuses are issued even when their job performance is poo poo) used some of it to give the guys who made these poor decisions huge bonuses.
Government is now "Upset, Outraged, and otherwise Incontinent"
What exactly did Government expect?

You talk about the Utopia (aka the perfect solution) and the mental illness will allow you to see it that way.
Personally, I have no time for outrage. However lest you think that I am unpatriotic I should tell you that right now there are highly skilled mourners in Ghana hard at work expressing my feelings of anger and shock.
These folks usually do funerals but for a few bucks more they agreed to my unusual request.
